Dravid - Please Go out for Toss in Major Finals

I've never really enjoyed watching Crickaat (as the Lankans would pronounce) played in Sri Lanka. Most of the One Dayers that I have seen almost all the matches are won by the team who wins the toss and bats first. Batting second, with the very low and slow pitches and their motley collection of spinners is a sure recipe for failure. Well for that matter most of the One Days in most of the grounds, in a major final, the day-night matches have a strong tilt towards the team batting first, but it gets highly enhanced in SL.

So I think we shouldn't see too much into India losing this Final .

As to India not winning the Finals once again, well I'd like to point few facts ....

1. India under Ganguly has made it to the Finals of all the One Day tournaments it has participated. This is a mind boggling achievement. Even the Aussies and the most consistent Springboks haven't done that.

2. Ganguly inevitably loses the tosses and India bats second. Even won he has won few, for some inexplicable reason Ganguly selects to bat second. Most of these One Day Finals are day-night affairs where batting first becomes very important. These shows that either Ganguly is unlucky or makes a flawed decision.

3. ICC trophy Finals last year we had SL on the mat for two consecutive days, we were in superb form and SL was struggling, but then rain intervened, again proves that Ganguly is unlucky when it comes to Finals.

4. The only One Day tournament we played was in Lords, where we did bat second, but then it was a Day Match.

So when it comes to Finals, either Ganguly becomes very unlucky or takes funny decisions. Yes, I do agree to the premise that we make our own luck and talent and the killer instinct takes us very far... blah blah blah ....
but
Somebody please suggest to Ganguly to send Dravid out for Toss.
