Great Selection

Good decision to select Dinesh Karthik who has been knocking on the doors for quite some time. It certainly was time to make a strong statement to the young Parthiv Patel. His atrocious keeping certainly was one of the two reasons why India didn't win the recent Sydney Test (The other being one Mr.Bucknor, less said the better). There have been few murmurs , don't know how true they are, against Parthiv. Arrogance and unwilling to listen to experts and well-wishers were few that have been cited. If they are true, this decision to 'Drop' him would go a long way in shaping his career.

Ask VVS Laxman, he being dropped for the World cup certainly changed his outlook towards One Day Cricket. Having said that, and having seen his recent one day performance, I still believe he's not a good one day player. But more on that in the next post.

The selection and the captaincy are two most thank-less jobs in Indian Cricket. But the selectors time and again have shown great courage in the last few years and certainly thrown youngsters in the fray, most successful being Yuvraj,Kaif, Pathan and Balaji. Nowbody really appreciates them. They deserve kudos for that. It also helps that the playing members, and the support staff have created such a wonderful environment that the youngsters do nothing but give their best. Ganguly leads in this endeavour. I am sure Dinesh Karthik would take his chances if and when he gets called for. Knowing Ganguly's preference for Parthiv and Dravid for One Dayers, I hope he would put aside his choice and encourage this talented lad. I am sure Ganguly will do that. All the Best Dinesh!
