Had opportunity to watch the First session of the First day of the First Test match between Aus and Pak. Also followed the First Test between Aus and NZ a month ago and the Two One Dayers between them. There were so many moments when the Aussies were in trouble and they appeared as Mortal as any other team , but for one difference. The only thing that separates Aussies from the Rest of the World, is the presence of Adam Gilchrist. He is the single most reason why Aussies continue to maintain their top position.
The Aussies were in spot of bother against the Pak's and again Adam Gilchrist came in and with sheer positive play and attitude brought them back in the game. Of course Justin Langer was there, so has been many other players in the Aussie team over the years, who came in to rescue but the common thread is Gilchrist. To me he is the best batsman in World Cricket in both forms of the game.
Free flowing Strokes, Attitude, Entertainment, Positive, Destructive all these are the ideal words to describe him.
