Just wondering , If I can draw a parallel here. The NDA, with the right-wing BJP, came into power around 1999. Saurav Ganguly was also made the captain around that period. India certainly did well during the period 1999-2004 in Cricket. The icing on the cake came during last year's Pakistan visit, which India won, not very comfortably, but certainly decisively.
The NDA buoyed by the people's glee, during that period, declared for an early election, thinking that it would be a cake-walk election for them. But it was not to be so. Saurav Ganguly's captaincy started deteriorating after the Pak Series.
The NDA is a spent force now. Saurav should be facing the axe soon (I assume this)
The Centrist-Left combine is slowly settling down , prospects for an Moderate, Intelligent Rahul Dravid is increasing day by day.
Not sure whether I can draw a parallel here.
