Interesting Facts of the Aussie under Steve Waugh

Just think of what Australia have achieved in Test cricket this century to put the response of their fans in context. They have played 44 matches. They have lost only seven.

Of those losses,
they were beaten by England at Leeds after they had won the series;
by South Africa at Durban after they had won five back-to-back Tests at home and away;
by England in a final Test at Sydney after they'd won the first four;
and by the West Indies at St John's in the fourth Test of a series they'd already won 3-0.

Only twice have Australia lost a Test in a live rubber this century:
once against India in India in 2001.
once again against India in Australia in the current series 2003.

The last test match between the Aussies and India is being played out today. The test which will be the last of Steve Waugh. At the end of day One, the Test is certainly poised very evenly. Should India go on and win, this will again be the only team which would have beaten the Aussies convincingly and be the only team which would have won a series agains the Aussies under Steve. Amazing stuff. The facts point out very clearly, India is the team that can claim the mantle of the No:1 rightfully after Aussies.

Had a very quiet and sane New Year celebration and sister and bro-in-law joined us for the celebration. She would be staying back for few days - first time staying with us after my Marriage.
